BUILD YOUR OWN SOFT WASH SYSTEM

BUILD YOUR OWN SOFT WASH SYSTEM

Do you wonder how to BUILD YOUR OWN SOFT WASH SYSTEM?  Traditional pressure washing remains effective for many concrete surfaces such as driveways, sidewalks, and pool decks.  But for cleaning roof and vertical wall surfaces, we always recommend soft washing.  This helps prevent damage to the surface and other aspects of the exterior property.  In this video, I teach you how to build your own soft wash system.

SOFT WASH PUMP STATION AND AIR COMPRESSOR

To build your own soft wash system, you will need a pump station and an air compressor.  We always ship the pump station separately from the compressor to prevent damage in transit.  In fact, we use an inflatable packing material to provide maximum protection.  The pump station is two 5 gallon per minute flow jet pumps stacked together.  So it’s actually a 10 gallon per minute machine.  You cannot get a higher gallon per minute machine, even though you may see advertising stating otherwise.

ATTACHING THE TWO

To BUILD YOUR OWN SOFT WASH SYSTEM, you attach the pump station to the air compressor.  Be sure and check out the full video for all the tools are steps in order to complete this step.  The cam locks can be tricky so I provide in depth suggestions for some of the complications that might arise.  We always recommend putting the cam locks on before installing the full pump station plate.

DRILLING HOLES

Drilling holes can be a challenge when you build your own soft wash system.  But the simple solution is to just remove the manifolds.  So I walk you through step by step how these come off very easily.  This will allow for drilling precisely straight holes after making a mark on all four holes.  My preference is to remove the pump station after making the marks before drilling the holes.  Slow and steady drilling is a key to this project.  Then you attach all four lock nuts to the back of the bolts and tighten.

OTHER SOFT WASH SYSTEM STEPS

There are several additional steps if you want to build your own soft wash system.  Connecting to the compressor, plumbing, and how to operate the pump station just to name a few.  Here is another great video for more information on the Kinglinsger.  I provide monthly training events in Houston that includes on the job training and classroom instruction.  It’s a great time to expand your skills and get to know a few new friends in the business!

GETTING READY FOR CHANGE

GETTING READY FOR CHANGE

In this leadership training and motivation video, I help pressure washing business owners prepare for change.  The big result of Covid is change in the way we do business.  Pressure washing businesses are not exempt.  But just consider the long list of businesses that did not survive because they didn’t change long before covid.  Check out the entire video for the full list!

There are actually six ways that you can help prepare your business for change!

CREATE A PLAN

A plan with goals is vital before attempting to implement changes.  The purpose of such a step by step, gradual plan for change is to lessen risk and correct unexpected errors along the way.  What is the reason for the change?  What’s the end goal?  And how will it affect each aspect of your business such as marketing, HR, accounting, employee morale and communication flow?

HANDLE RESISTANCE TO CHANGE

It’s completely normal for your entire team to want nothing to do with new procedures.  As the leader of the organization, you’re much better inviting voices of resistance to speak up and speak out.  Listen carefully to the legitimate concerns and questions they raise so that you can build trust with your team.

ACCEPT TRENDS

Small business owners must be aware of cultural shifts and trends because it will affect your business.  When customers begin paying through an app rather than sending checks by mail, you have to change with those trends.  If customers prefer to communicate by text rather than by email or phone call, embrace it. Tens years ago, I began placing “call or text” along with my cell phone number on every marketing piece we put out.  Check out the entire video for more cultural trends that will definitely affect pressure washing service businesses.

THREE MORE

There are three more ways to prepare for change which I discuss at length in the video.  So be sure and check them out!  I also take a few moments to share my personal faith story, and about how Christ radically changed my life.  There is another pressure washing leadership motivation video which you might enjoy about FIRING CUSTOMERS.  If you are looking to try some new cleaning solutions for your pressure washing business, check out this post!

PRESSURE WASHER HOSE LENGTH

PRESSURE WASHER HOSE LENGTH

One of the questions many new pressure washing professionals have is how much pressure washer hose length do I need?  Typically, new pressure washing professionals start out with a portable pressure washer.  And one of loyal YouTube channel viewers is inquiring about this very thing.  We always recommend starting out with a BELT DRIVE pressure washer because it is far more reliable for commercial use.  In addition, you can connect to a buffer tank to draw water.

PORTABLE PRESSURE WASHER

When using a portable pressure washer, there is no need for any more than 100 feet of hose.  With proper set up of the portable machine, you can easily get 200 feet of coverage because you are using two different hoses collectively.  You could easily add an additional 50 foot spare hose for larger projects.  But we recommend 100 foot of initial pressure wash hose for portable units.  In addition, our experience is that a one wire hose is much easier to manage because they are lighter in weight.  The two wire hose is heavier, doesn’t last any longer, and costs more.

HOOK UP MECHANICS

Another consideration with portable pressure washer hose length is how you will hook it up.  There are couple different options to choose from.  First, you could use quick connects to connect hoses as needed.  A second option is a 3/8 inch coupler.  This is the best option if you are storing the hose on any type of hose reel.  The quick connects take up more straight space than the coupler which makes the circular hose reel wrapping much more challenging.  So you would need to decide if you’re rolling the 100 foot hose up together with the 50 foot hose for storage.

PORTABLE PRESSURE WASHER WITH HOSE REEL

One great option we offer at Doug Rucker Store is a portable pressure washer with hose reel.  We also remove all the bend restrictors from every hose because they are a huge nuisance to work with.  The bend restrictors trap water which causes rust.  Finally, check out some of the FAQs about the various training opportunities we provide in the Houston area.

KINGSLINGER DISTANCE

KINGSLINGER DISTANCE

Many potential customers inquire about Kingslinger Distance through the Doug Rucker Store.  The Kingslinger Soft Wash System can be connected to a 5 GPM or 10 GPM pressure washer.  There are options with the Kingslinger such as with or without the compressor.  Also, hose or hose reel options can be considered.  One of the variables to evaluate when considering  any soft wash system is distance.  We provide a video demonstration of with a measuring wheel.  This allows you to see what you’re actually getting in terms of distance.  Here is more information when considering pressure washing start up business equipment.

KINGSLINGER DISTANCE VIDEO DEMO

KINGSLINGER DISTANCE 45 Feet

Upon measuring in no wind conditions, we were able to get to approximately 45 feet.  This was while using an 0020 nozzle, and then an 0040 nozzle.  Adjusting the ball valve vertically will obviously affect KINGSLINGER DISTANCE.   This is extremely handy especially for roof cleaning projects.  Some distance will be lost from the ground when cleaning straight up on vertical walls.  Our estimate would be around 2 feet.  Wind will also be a factor for distance with Kingslinger, or for any soft wash system in use.  We also discuss in detail the importance of evaluating the actual dedicated pump for any product you are considering.

KINGSLINGER GF VALVES

Another option available is GF valves, which we have found to help improve flow.  You can choose between the GF or Pentair valve system.  The three valve system allows you to control the mix for water, bleach, and any other cleaning solution you might be using.  Regardless of the mix ratio or detergents used, you can still count on approximately 45 feet for KINGSLINGER DISTANCE.  There are several more Kingslinger product videos available on the product website at the bottom that might interest you as well.
